On behalf of Ocean County College and the Intercollegiate Athletic Department, we would like to welcome you to Viking Athletics! We truly believe that athletics are an integral part of the educational program for students. The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics operates in harmony with the college commitment to the intellectual, cultural, physical and social development of all our student athletes. Athletics encourages attitudes of self-discipline, group cooperation, good sportsmanship, and personal integrity. It is the department’s belief that these qualities lead to achievement in academics, athletics, and the skills necessary for continued learning throughout life.
Ocean County College has a rich tradition of excellence in the classroom, community, and on the playing field. Quality team athletic programs have been the backbone of the college since its inception as the first county college in New Jersey in 1964. OCC Viking student athletes are part of a program of state and national prominence. We have been consistently ranked among the top 10 community college athletic programs in the nation the past few years and have won national, regional, and conference awards for sportsmanship, community service, academic, and athletic excellence.
Ocean County College is a proud charter member of the Garden State Athletic Conference and Region XIX of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). We participate in the non-scholarship division (DIII) in all sports. Together, the athletic staff, students-athletes, and community work hard to keep our successes and traditions alive at OCC. We encourage all students to get involved in Athletics or Student Life!
