OCC Basketball's Brooke Schmidt and Jamari Smith Named GSAC D-III Players of the Week!

Toms River, NJ - Congratulations to Ocean CC Basketball's Brooke Schmidt (W) and Jamari Smith (M), who were both just named Garden State Athletic Conference Players of the Week!
Sophomore guard Brooke Schmidt (Lacey, NJ/Lacey Township H.S.) powered the Vikings to their 1st win of the season on 1/8, when she contributed 24 points and 11 rebounds as Ocean defeated Bergen CC, 61-54. Schmidt currently averages 20.8 points (7th nationally) and 9.4 rebounds per game, and has ranked among the Region's elite all season.
Jamari Smith (Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat H.S.) has led the Vikings to 2 straight wins since returning from winter break, scoring 35 points with 8 boards and 8 assists on 1/8 in Ocean's 107-91 win versus Bergen CC, followed by a 26-point, 12-rebound, 6-assist night in the Vikings 95-86 defeat of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology on 1/10. The dynamic two-way sophomore guard is currently ranked 14th nationally with 21 points per game.
