Men's Basketball Win Streak Halted at 2 in 81-75 Loss to Northampton CC
Toms River, NJ - OCC Vikings Men's Basketball's win streak was stopped at 2 following an 81-75 loss to the visiting Spartans of Northampton CC on Saturday (11/15).
This matchup was hotly contested from the outset, with the teams trading leads back and forth through single possessions. The Vikings headed into the half leading by one point (35-34), and found themselves chasing the Spartans through a portion of the second half, trailing by 3 points with 1:05 left of the clock, before a series of missed scoring opportunities allowed Northampton to escape Ocean's home opener with the win.
OCC sophomore guard Jamari Smith posted his strongest offensive performance of the season thus far, with 32 points on 8-for-17 shooting from the field, to go along with 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Freshman guards Aiden Sosinov and AJ Lemons were both strong contributors in this game as well, with Sosinov scoring 16 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, and Lemons bringing in 13 points, as well as 2 steals and 3 rebounds.
The Vikings will next head to Salem CC this Tuesday, November 18, for a 5:30pm meeting with the Mighty Oaks.
