Women's Basketball Opens 2026 with 1st Win of Season in 61-54 Defeat of Bergen CC!

Toms River, NJ - OCC Women's Basketball returned from winter break with re-energized, overwhelming the visiting Bergen CC Bulldogs to secure their 1st win of the season, 61-54.

The Vikings established a tempo early, leading by 9 after the first period, and bolstering the lead to 12 after 20 minutes. Sophomore guard Brooke Schmidt (Lacey, NJ/Lacey H.S.) led the offense for Ocean, scoring 24 points and pulling down 11 rebounds on 10-for-20 shooting from the field, while freshman guard Lola Darcy (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Boro H.S.) contributed a solid overall effort, scoring 16 points with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Freshman Alyssa Padilla (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional H.S.) was a threat from outside, as the guard sank 4 three-pointers, scoring 12 points on the evening. 

OCC Women's Basketball will next host RCSJ Gloucester on Tuesday, January 13 at 5pm.
