Toms River, NJ - OCC Men's Soccer continued their red-hot play to start the 2025 season, tearing through the visiting Dukes of RCSJ Cumberland, 4-1 on Thursday (9/25).
Continuing to employ the speed and aggressive play that had led the team to an undefeated record through their first 6 matches, the Vikings attacked the Dukes from the outset, striking first with a goal from Patrick Schlagenhaft (assisted by Julian Marfino) in the 19th minute. Cumberland would respond shortly after with a tally in the 22nd, and the score remained locked at 1-1 as time expired in the half. Ocean emerged from the brief intermission with renewed determination. Following a costly penalty from Cumberland's goalkeeper, Julian Marfino converted the resultant free kick to put the Vikings ahead, 2-1 in the 49th minute, with Josh Brazier adding his team-leading 7th and 8th goals to the effort in the 65th and 77th minute (assisted by Jefferson Rubi Cruz and Jack Eubanks, respectively) to dash any hopes of a Cumberland comeback.
The 1st place Vikings now possess an overall record 5-0-2, and next travel to Sussex County CC on September 30 for a 4pm matchup versus the Skylanders.
