Toms River, NJ - Ocean County College Men's Soccer secured their 2nd win to start the 2025 season following a 2-0 shutout at Union College of New Jersey on Saturday (9/6).
Despite having last competed on August 26, the Vikings showed no ill effects from their slight layoff, striking first in the 17th minute with sophomore midfielder/forward Julian Marfino depositing his first goal of the season in the lower left, after receiving a pass from the left flank from freshman forward/midfielder Jefferson Rubi Cruz. The 1-goal differential would hold for most of this hard-fought match, until Ocean sophomore defender Jack Eubanks was fouled in the box, allowing freshman forward/midfielder Josh Brazier to convert a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to increase the Viking lead to 2, and ultimately seal Union's fate. OCC freshman goalkeeper Justin Perrin made 5 stops to earn his first shutout of his Ocean career, with the team outshooting Union 13-6 overall.
The Vikings return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 9, when they host Camden County College at 4pm, in OCC's home opener.
